Unfortunately, a large part of this is knowing what to expect. I found HW1 to be more difficult, at least if you don't do the whole 'capture 90 ion cannon frigates' thing.

Once you get the dreadnaught, you're pretty much home free if you play correctly.
It does scale to you, but if you play correctly it's quite easy.Ī key thing to remember is to use bombers to neuter enemy ships. I didn't find HW2 that difficult, but many did. This stuff is all covered in excellent detail in the guide I linked to above. IIRC, 'fighter screen' was the one you want, and sends your cloud of bombers in first, letting the frigates, corvettes, and capital ships sit merry in the back, blasting away with their mainguns as the bombers take the brunt of the counterattack. It determines what units you want the computer to attack. Your continuous cloud of bombers will wear just about anything down.Īlso, formations are very important in this game. Just remember: balanced fleet for the win (except for scouts, interceptors, gun platforms, marine frigates, and defence frigates). Use flak frigates for anti-fighter purposes. That 40 cap can be much better utilized if filled with bombers. Other than the very first and very last mission, I think that fighters are useless. This is a homeworld game, bombers are vastly overpowered for the number of the buggers you can build.

I can't play it without the cheats because frankly it's fucking boring to play a game where you have to do everything exactly the way they intended for you to do it, else you get blown up. But this doesn't help because in the next level you get your ass handed to you by the fleet that suddenly becomes 10x more powerful than yours. So far the only cheat I've found is where you can lock your RUs to like eight million or something. The Caldari Navy also offers multiple upgraded navy faction ships for capsuleers.This game simply isn't fun anymore, but I want to see what happens during the game.
